Abstract | : | This paper proposes a trust model to achieve consensus in a Group Decision Making (GDM). The setting of GDM here comprises of decision maker varied from expert to novice with no former knowledge to decide on certain alternatives. The model does not use a set of winning coalition nor a voting rule. Instead, the model employs trust model to facilitate judgment and decision process. The participants of decision making are multi-decision maker with diverse knowledge, from expert to novice, which also known as participatory approach in decision making. Every decision maker evaluates each alternative with respect to given criteria. His or her preferences of the criteria and or the alternatives may differ from another decision maker. In some situations, a decision maker could face difficulties to decide his or her preferences, for example, due to limited knowledge or conflict of interest among decision makers. Thus, decision makers can seek any advice from someone that can be trusted, i.e. expert and supra decision maker as chairman of group decision making itself. Trust model then can be utilized as a solution. In addition, this trust model is proposed to facilitate consensus by having a central decision maker's role as dominant role (also called as Supra Decision Maker). © 2010 University Sains Malaysia. |
