Abstract : Watermarking can be interpreted as a technique for hiding data or information into another data (called host) such that others don't realize the presence or existence of the additional data. The adaptive watermarking method by color ordering and mapping is a watermarking method applicable for palette images. In the existing method, a pixel is said as embeddable if a certain condition is met. Consequently, the watermark is not extractable when the watermarked image is compressed. In this research a modified color ordering and mapping method is proposed. In the proposed method all pixels of the image are considered embeddable. The removal of the embeddable constraint improves the speed of the insertion, speed of extraction, robustness to noise and compression. The proposed method is tested using 30 images. In order to evaluate the robustness of the method, salt and pepper noise or JPEG compression is applied to the watermarked images. The experimental results show that the speed of insertion and extraction of the proposed method is significantly higher. The proposed method is also more robust compared to the original method.
