Abstract | : | Background: Maternal mortality rate (MMR) in Indonesia had increased from 2007 to 2012. One of some causes of MMR in Indonesia was abortion contributing 11-30%. It was a consequence of unintended pregnancy (UiP). In Indonesia, UiP of 2015 had increased compared to 2012. UiP in 2015 reached 16% while it was 13.6% in 2012. UiP occured because of the failure of the contraceptives, misuse and inconsistency of their use, or no contraceptives used at all. The other factor affecting UiP was inconsistency of fertility intention, that some women with fertility intention of unwanting more children happened to did otherwise. This research try to study the connection of fertility intention with UiP of reproductive women in Indonesia. Method: : A cross sectional study design using PMA data 2020 Phase I of 2015. Research subjects were 5,581 reproductive women of age 15-49, married, sexually active, ever pregnant and fecund. Analysis technique used was univariable (descriptive), bivariable (chi-square), multilevel (general linier model) used as last analysis technique for hieararchal data such as PMA data. All tests used confidence interval (CI) 95% and significance rate p 0.05%. Results: Multilevel Analysis showed that reproductive women with fertility intention of do not want any more children had 1.53 times greater probability to have UiP, compared to those undeciding their fertility intention yet (P<0.05). The propostion of low educated reproductive women in province level had risk probability to UiP (OR=1.07; 95% CI=1.04-1.09). However, the proportion of poor and poorest residents of province level had protective probability to UiP (OR=0.96; 95% CI=0.95-0.98). 11% of UiP variation in community level was shown by unobserved variable during the research. Relation variation between reproductive women’s fertility intention and UiP in community level meant statistically. Conclusion: Fertility intention of reproductive age women was related to unintended pregnancy in Indonesia. |
