Abstract | : | In this research, the synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) and its evaluation for antibacterial activity against Vibrio sp. were carried out using Kirinyuh (Chromolana Odorata) leaf extract as both reducing and stabilizing agent. In the synthesis process, the leaf extract and silver nitrate solution were mixed and hydrothermally treated at 60 o C for 105 min. The produced silver nanoparticles were analyzed by ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectrometry, X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM). The UV-Vis spectra show new peaks at a wavelength of 435 nm to indicate the formation of silver nanoparticles. XRD pattern of silver nanoparticles suggests cubic structure with peaks observed at 2-theta of 38.21o and 44.28o . The particle size of silver nanoparticles was estimated to be around 10-60 nm and the average particle size was about 27.82 nm. The Ag nanoparticles show good activity against Vibrio sp. with the inhibition zone around 5.13 mm. Based on the results, the silver nanoparticles have been successfully synthesized using Kirinyuh leaf extract and prove to have antibacterial activity. |
