Abstract : Development of remote sensing results in possibility of user to identify various objects either vegetation, surface minerals, or soil type according to specific and unique spectral response of the sensed-objects. Spectral response represented by reflectance is initially measured using spectrometer in order to build spectral response curve. The objective of this research is simple exposition how to build response spectral curve of main vegetation type in the study area in Samigaluh District, Kulon Progo Regency. Further, response spectral curve as an input to build spectral library. Spectral library is beneficial as identifier of objects in term of ground base data in combined with hyperspectral data. Field spectrometer data then processed in order to lead a conclusion spectral pattern of measured vegetation type in the study area. Spectral response is a curve that represents the response of vegetation type sensed in range of the ability of spectrometer device. The result of this research is response spectral curve showing x and y axis wavelength and reflectance value, respectively. This research is a preliminary research prior to identification of vegetation type in the study area based on remotely-sense hyperspectral data, especially dominant vegetation type in the study area.
