Abstract | : | Dimension analysis on the Computed Tomography (CT) images of an acrylic phantom that was produced by a 64-multi-slice CT at the Dr. Sardjito General Hospital Yogyakarta has been accomplished. The scanning process was based on the formal scanning protocol for brain, abdomen and chest in the hospital. Formally, the Digital Imaging Communications in Medicine (DICOM) format has been used. Alternatively, the Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) format might be used for customized purpose. In this study, we compared the dimensions of details in the phantom as measured on the image in DICOM format and JPEG format relative to the actual dimension. The dimensions as seen on the reconstructed image of the phantom were analyzed using Brilliance CT software for the image in DICOM format and using ImageJ software for the image in JPEG format. It found that some measurements regarding some features on the image were linear with respect to the actual dimensions both using Brilliance CT software and ImageJ. Measurements for all seven rows of multi-pin holes in multi-pin layer measurement using Brilliance CT software were linear with respect to the actual dimensions. The smallest dimension that can be measured using Brilliance CT software was 2mm. Measurements using ImageJ software for JPEG format were linear with respect to the actual dimensions. The smallest dimension that can be measured using ImageJ software was 1mm. |
