Abstract : The PVA-chitosan film for immobilization of dimethylglioxime (DMG) was studied in the variation of optimum sensing condition and validation method. The PVA-chitosan film was prepared by proportion volume 6:4, followed by adsorption of DMG solution. The resulted film was characterized by using FTIR spectrometer and SEM. The film was characterized using FT-IR spectrophotometer and SEM micrograph. The study of detection Ni(II) was performed by soaking the film in NiSO4 solution with the addition of buffer and measuring the absorbance by UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The result showed that the optimum response of the film was obtained at pH 7 for 12 minutes. The linearity of the calibration curve was obtained in the concentration range of 0-50 mg L–1, with a coefficient correlation of 0.999. The film has good precision and accuracy with relative standard deviation was less than 5% and the percent recovery value between 96-108%. The film immobilized could detect ion Ni(II) in aqueous solution was mainly based on the diffusion mechanism.
