| Abstract | : | Background: The practice of feeding infant and young children is the optimal effective intervention in improving the health status and child mortality. The results of monitoring of nutritional status in the Sleman district in 2015 acquired 12.86% of stunting, underweight 7.53%, overweight 6.14% and wasting 3.57%. It is necessary for the prevention and improvement of nutritional problems, one of which is done by increasing the role of Posyandu’s cadre in growth monitoring and infant and young child feeding counseling through IYCF training for the Posyandu’s cadre. Objectives: To measure the performance of Posyandu’s cadre in carrying out IYCF counseling in Sleman. Methods: The study design was a case study. The location of research in Pakem and Depok 2 health centers. The data collection by observation and questionnaires. Data processing was performed by descriptive analysis and paired t-test. Subjects were posyandu’s cadre in IYCF training. Results: There were signi? cant differences for knowledge, growth monitoring skills, IYCF counseling skills of Posyandu’s cadre before and after training. Level counseling skills Posyandu cadre 21.87% good and 78.12% is enough. IYCF counseling skills score highest on questioning skills and communication skills. The weakest component of acting skills in the counseling process is when Posyandu’s cadre must help mother pick one or two things that can be tried, and only 25% Posyandu’s cadre who can do it. Conclusion: IYCF counseling training can improve knowledge and skills of Posyandu’s cadre in growth monitoring and IYCF counseling. Most of the level of IYCF counseling skills of Posyandu’s cadre including enough, with questioning and communication skills of high scores, skills which still low scores so it needs to be improved is the acting skills of Posyandu’s cadre during the counseling process. |
