Abstract : Nanoparticles of magnetite (Fe3O4) are synthesized by co-precipitation in an aqueous solution containing ferrous and ferric salts from dissolved iron sand. Subsequently, the synthesis process is assisted by mechanical vibration through various frequencies of (0, 100, 200, and 500 Hz). It is found that various frequencies of mechanical vibration upon the synthesis influence the particle size of magnetite. The magnetite is then characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscope (TEM). Magnetic properties of the magnetite are determined by vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). As a result, the synthesized magnetite samples exhibited the X-ray diffraction patterns corresponded to JCPDS card no 019-0629 for magnetite. The TEM image show that particle sizes of the magnetite of 11±3 nm occurred at 500 Hz frequency of the mechanical vibration increased, while the decreased particle sizes increased the saturation magnetization of the magnetite nanoparticles.
