I am a lecturer at the Department of History, Universitas Gadjah Mada since 2018. My research focuses on the international and transnational relations between Indonesia and Afro-Asian solidarity movements in the twentieth century. I am currently completing my PhD at the Department of History, University of Bristol, on the participation of Indonesians in developing Afro-Asian networks of solidarity in the 1950s-1960s. My first book, Konferensi Asia-Afrika 1955: Asal Usul Intelektual dan Warisannya bagi Gerakan Global Antiimperialisme (2017), examines the history and legacy of the Bandung Conference in international politics. I was involved as an associate researcher in Asia in the collaborative research project Afro-Asian Networks Project (2015-2018) led by Su Lin Lewis (University of Bristol, principal investigator) and Carolien Stolte (Leiden University, co-investigator). I am a member of Editorial Board of Lembaran Sejarah, Candrasangkala: Jurnal Pendidikan Sejarah and Bakti Budaya (2018-2019). Besides academic writing, I write columns for several Indonesian media, such as tirto.id, historia.id, detik.com, beritagar.id, Media Indonesia, Sinar Harapan, Seputar Indonesia, The Jakarta Post and Kompas. I got my BA in history from Universitas Gadjah Mada (2011) and Leiden University (2014) and MA in Colonial and Global History from Leiden University (2015). Email: wsutama@ugm.ac.id
